Industry & Business Analysis
We examine your operations, market position, and technology landscape to understand where the real constraints are. What we find becomes the basis for what we build.
Parallax Sciences brings multi-angle analysis to your business, combining software engineering and AI with deep industry insight to improve what exists and build what does not.
Our ServicesIn science, parallax is the apparent shift in an object's position when observed from different vantage points. It is how astronomers measure the distance to stars, and how our two eyes create depth perception.
We built this company on the same principle. A single perspective rarely reveals the full picture. By analyzing your business, industry, and technology from multiple angles, we uncover opportunities that a conventional view would miss.
Our primary tools are software engineering and artificial intelligence, but we are not limited to them. The right solution depends on the problem, and we follow the evidence wherever it leads.
Our team combines deep software engineering expertise with backgrounds in quantitative finance, industrial systems, and applied machine learning.
We examine your operations, market position, and technology landscape to understand where the real constraints are. What we find becomes the basis for what we build.
When no existing tool fits the problem, we build one. We specialize in custom software and AI systems, but our approach is technology-agnostic. The tool has to fit the job.
We take on problems where the path forward is unclear. Our research produces new methods, tools, and systems, whether built from scratch or by rethinking how existing approaches apply to a new context.
We partner with companies that have real technical problems to solve, not just features to ship.
CEOs, CTOs, and technical leaders looking to explore approaches that go beyond what their current team has bandwidth to investigate.
Growing businesses that need custom tools or processes but lack an internal research function to build them.
Larger organizations facing a defined technical problem where off-the-shelf solutions have already failed or do not exist.
Industries we have worked across: fintech, manufacturing, healthcare, wholesale, and professional services.
Projects that illustrate how we approach problems.
Fintech
A proprietary trading firm needed to spot emerging market anomalies in real-time across thousands of instruments. Standard technical indicators and rule-based alert systems produced too many false positives and could not adapt to shifting market regimes. We built a detection model that learns the baseline behavior of correlated asset groups and flags statistically significant deviations as they form. Multiple approaches, including off-the-shelf anomaly detectors, were tested and failed to meet the latency and accuracy requirements simultaneously.
Result: the system identified actionable signals 40% earlier than the firm's previous setup while cutting false alerts by 65%.
Manufacturing
Detecting surface defects on carbon-fiber layups at production speed remains an open problem. A composites manufacturer came to us after standard computer vision models failed. The material's layered translucency and variable weave patterns had no equivalent in any public training dataset. We created new image preprocessing and augmentation techniques specific to this material class. Several approaches were tested and discarded before one could reliably distinguish true defects from normal weave variation.
Final accuracy: 97%, up from 82% with the best available off-the-shelf tool.
Professional Services
Every quarter, thousands of prospectuses and regulatory filings pass through a securities compliance team's review process. The documents used non-standard terminology and nested clause structures that no available extraction tool could handle accurately. We wrote new parsing methods that handle evolving regulatory language without manual retraining. No existing NLP framework supported this, so we built custom approaches for ambiguous cross-references and jurisdiction-specific phrasing.
The resulting system handles document types the team previously reviewed by hand.
We talk through your challenge, understand the constraints, and determine whether our approach is the right fit. No cost, no commitment.
We investigate the problem space, identify what has been tried before, and outline where the real unknowns are. This scoping phase typically takes 1-2 weeks.
We design experiments, test hypotheses, and build working systems. Progress is documented throughout so you always know where the project stands.
You receive the deliverable, whether working code, a methodology, or a system design, along with full documentation and a complete record of the approaches explored, what worked, and what did not.
